About University:
Approx. 47,000 students register yearly for at least one course at the Open University.
A diverse student body is composed of a cross section of Israeli society, including individuals who work full time and support families, gifted high school students, professionals seeking advanced degrees, ultra-Orthodox men and women, Israeli Arabs, students with disabilities, and residents from all over the country, including Israel’s geographic and socioeconomic periphery.
The OUI is the only institution of higher education at which soldiers on active duty in the IDF are authorized to study while serving.
Over 50,000 students have graduated from the OUI – approximately 45,000 with bachelor’s degrees and approximately 5,000 with master’s degrees.
More than 600 courses are offered by the OUI, ranging from from Judaic Studies and Economics to Computer Science and Industrial Engineering. Tutors and students communicate through interactive course websites. All courses are in Hebrew, with selected courses also available in Russian and Arabic.
Over 60 study centers located throughout Israel allow students to attend tutoring sessions at convenient locations, and also offer academic counseling and learning resources

Dean of the Faculty of Education at Kibbutzim College. Before her appointment to this position, she served as head of the Research Authority at the college. Her main areas of interest are evaluation in education, including the evaluation of study programs, teaching staff, students and more. Her most prominent studies center around the image of the worthy teacher, his or her training and the methods to evaluate his or her work. Her other studies center around the evaluation of study programs and educational projects.

An expert in digital pedagogy and innovation in teaching and learning. He researches the field of digital books and advanced teaching and learning management systems. He has more than 20 years of experience in developing integrated computer learning and training environments. He graduated from the 11th cycle of the Mandel School for Educational Leadership. Selected by Haaretz newspaper as one of the 50 people influencing education in Israel in 2010 and was awarded the commendation in the Prime Minister’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition (2012) for his pioneering work in educational technology.

חני שלטון היא חברת סגל הוראה בתואר השני בטכנולוגיות למידה, מרכזת שני קורסים מקוונים בהערכה בחינוך באוניברסיטה הפתוחה.
חני עוסקת בתחום הערכה כשלושים שנה. כעשר שנים ניהלה את תחום הערכה מעצבת בראמ”ה ועסקה בפיתוח של כלי הערכה פנימיים לבתי הספר. בעבר ניהלה את מחלקת הערכה במטח ועסקה בהערכה של תכניות וחומרי למידה מודפסים ודיגיטלים. במהלך השנים עסקה גם בפיתוח מקצועי של בעלי תפקידים במערכת החינוך.
חני סיימה תואר שלישי במגמה לשיטות מחקר, מדידה והערכה בחינוך, באוניברסיטת תל אביב, תחומי ההתמחות והמחקר הם: הערכה לשם למידה, חלופות בהערכה, קהילות למידה מקצועיות (‘למידה ארגונית’) והערכת ההוראה והניהול, וסקרנות.

יעל בעלת תואר M.A בנוירופסיכולוגיה שיקומית (המכללה האקדמית תל־אביב–יפו), ו־M.Sc ו־Ph.D בפסיכולוגיה קוגניטיבית (הטכניון). מחקר הדוקטורט שלה עסק בהשפעה של המדיה (מסך מול נייר) על תהליכים קוגניטיביים ומטה־קוגניטיביים המעורבים בפתרון בעיות. כיום, מחקריה מתמקדים בתהליכים מטה־קוגניטיביים בהקשר של מטלות מגוונות, כגון חשיבה יצירתית.
כמו כן, יעל חוקרת השפעות של הטמעת טכנולוגיות מתקדמות בלמידה ותהליכים חברתיים המתרחשים בלמידה מקוונת. יעל חברה בהנהלת המרכז לחקר חדשנות בטכנולוגיות למידה, שהוא גוף המחקר של האוניברסיטה לבחינת שילובן של טכנולוגיות חדשניות בתהליכי הוראה ולמידה במוסד.

Dr. Michal Levi-Keren is the Head of the Master’s Program in Education Evaluation at Kibbutzim College of Education. She holds a Master’s degree (with honors) in the Research, Measurement and Evaluation Methods program at Tel Aviv University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Measurement at Tel Aviv University. Researcher and lecturer since 1991 in the field of research methodology at the Tel Aviv University School of Education and in the master’s programs at the kibbutz seminar. She received teaching diplomas of excellence from the Head of the School of Education at Tel Aviv University (2006) and from the Rector of the University (2007, 2012). For many years, her work at the University has focused on research assessing educational projects and curricula, and assessing the academic achievement of immigrant students. She also served as a district instructor in the field of measurement and evaluation in the Ministry of Education from 2013-2010. In 2016, she was the head of a steering committee for the development of a diploma program for training evaluators of programs and projects of the Center for Professional Development and Training at the Kibbutzim College of Education.

Dr. Noa Ragonis is a senior lecturer at Beit Berl College. Holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics from Bar-Ilan University, and a master’s degree and a PhD in the instruction of computer science from the Department of Science Teaching at Weizmann Institute of Science. She has completed her postdoctoral studies in the Faculty of Education in Science and Technology at the Technion.
Has an extensive experience in teaching computer science both in high schools and in academia. An expert on computer science pedagogy and she conducts studies and publishes articles in this field. For the last six years has been teaching courses on the subject of “computational thinking” and published position papers on this subject.

Naama Ben-Shahar completed her Ph.D at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. During her postdoctoral studies, she was awarded the AA Orbach Award for Outstanding Students, receiving the Goren Goldstein Scholarship at Ben Gurion University. Currently under the support of the National Science Foundation, she is continuing her research on the interpretation of the Ten Sephirot on manuscripts at the Open University under the guidance of Prof. Zahi Weiss. Her research focuses on the Jewish theory of the secret in general. and in particular Ashkenaz Hasidism on its various circles.
Her book: Interpretation of the book of Yetzirah attributed to Saadia Gaon: A Critical Edition and Introductory Chapters released in Los Angeles by Keruv Publishing in 2015.

חברת סגל הוראה בתואר השני בטכנולוגיות למידה באוניברסיטה הפתוחה, אחראית טכנולוגית של המחלקה ומרצה מן החוץ במכון הטכנולוגי חולון ובבית הספר לפסיכותרפיה במשחק. היא בעלת תואר B.A במדעי ההתנהגות (המכללה האקדמית תל־אביב–יפו), M.A בפסיכולוגיה קוגניטיבית ו־Ph.D בחינוך (אוניברסיטת תל אביב). כמו כן, היא בוגרת לימודי תעודה בטיפול במשחק (Play Therapy, אוניברסיטת בר־אילן), מדריכת מיינדפולנס לילדים (תוכנית 5465 של משרד החינוך) ובוגרת תוכנית ההסבה בפסיכולוגיה חינוכית (האוניברסיטה העברית).
קרן היא מעצבת שימושית (usability designer). במסגרת עבודתה בתעשייה בחברת הייטק ובאוניברסיטה הפתוחה עיצבה ממשקים וסביבות למידה ממוחשבות. זה יותר מעשור היא מרכזת קורס באוניברסיטה הפתוחה בתואר השני בחינוך, העוסק בעיצוב סביבות למידה ממוחשבות. בשנים האחרונות עוסקת בפסיכולוגיה של משתמשי רשת, בייחוד בקרב ילדים ובני נוער. קרן כתבה מאמרים שונים העוסקים באוריינות דיגיטלית, בחקר טכנולוגיות למידה ובהיבטים טכנולוגיים בחשיבה של ילדים.

ד”ר תמר שמיר ענבל היא חברת סגל הוראה בתואר השני בטכנולוגיות למידה, חוקרת, מנחת סטודנטים בכתיבת עבודות תזה, מרכזת הוראה ומרצה בשלושה קורסים (מחקר איכותני בחינוך, למידה וחינוך בחברת המידע, “ממידע לידע בסביבות דיגיטליות ושיתופיות”), במסגרת התכנית לתואר שני, טכנולוגיות ומערכות למידה, במחלקה לחינוך ופסיכולוגיה, של האוניברסיטה הפתוחה.
תמר סיימה תואר שלישי בטכניון במחלקה להוראת המדעים והטכנולוגיה בנושא הטמעת טכנולוגיה בתרבות הבית ספרית. בנוסף לעבודתה האקדמית תמר עוסקת בהדרכה, הטמעה והשבחת תהליכי הוראה ולמידה בשילוב טכנולוגיה במסגרות להתפתחות מקצועית של מורים במערכת החינוך.
תחומי המחקר בהם היא עוסקת מתמקדים בעיצוב הוראה ולמידה משולבת טכנולוגיה במוסדות חינוך ובהשכלה הגבוהה, בהתפתחות מקצועית מותאמת למאפייני המאה ה- 21 לעובדי הוראה ובאוריינות דיגיטלית.

Has been working at the Open University for about twenty years, where he developed the courses “Secularization Processes in the Jewish Culture” and “Introduction of Kabbalah: Jewish Mysticism from its Inception to the Zohar” (in association with Prof. Moshe Idel), and also assisted in the development of the course “Introduction to Jewish Philosophy”. His studies center around Jewish perspectives on death and in the history of the Hebrew book.

Yoram Eshet is a professor in the Department of Education and Psychology at the Open University, as well as the head of the program for a master’s degree in learning technologies and systems. He holds a PhD in geology from New York University and was a senior scholar at the Geological Survey of Israel for many years. For a decade he held the position of a scientist in a computer company concerned with the development of technology-rich learning environment, and headed the track for learning design at Tel-Hai College. Yoram is the founder and head of Chais Research Center for the Integration of Technology in Education and the Center for the Study of Innovation in Learning Technologies at the Open University. His studies center around a wide variety of aspects related to learning in technology-rich environments: digital reading, digital literacy, digital games, digital friendship, man-machine interactions, and the implementation of technologies in education systems.

Prof. Manor Mendel pursued his academic education in computer science at Tel Aviv University. In 2005, upon completion of his postdoctoral studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and the California Institute of Technology, he was named senior staff in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Open University. Additionally, he served as a guest scholar and guest professor at Microsoft’s research division, at the University of Washington, and at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University. His studies center around metric geometry, algorithms and the link between them.

Prof. Tzachi Weiss is a senior academic member of the Department of Literature, Language and Arts at the Open University. He studied BA and Master studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he also completed his doctorate. He did his postdoctoral research at the University of Chicago as a Rothschild Fellow. He specializes in the study of Hebrew literature and Jewish mysticism and their interactions. To date, he has published four books: The Shekhina’s Death in the Creation of S.J Agnon (Bar-Ilan 2009), Letters Created in Heaven and Earth (Bialik Institute 2014), Cutting Plants: The Shekhinah Work in the World of Early Accession Literature (Magnes 2015), and Sefer Yetsirah and Its Contexts (Penn Press, 2018)

Professor Guri-Rosenblit is the Vice President of Academic Affairs at the Open University. She previously served as Head of the Department of Education and Psychology and Dean of Development and Learning Technologies. Her areas of expertise over the past twenty years are: Comparative Research of Higher Education Systems, Digital Technologies, Distance Learning, Curriculum Planning and Learning Systems. She has published books and dozens of publications in her field of expertise. She has also developed many courses in education at the Open University, including the course “Curriculum Planning, Teaching and Assessment”. In recent decades, she has been a member of many international entities: the Scientific Committee of Europe and North America at the UNESCO Forum for Higher Education, Research and Knowledge; Fulbright’s flagship program – New Century Scholars; Evaluation committees of the European Science Foundation (ESF), the Rockefeller Foundation and the Fulbright Foundation for Postdoctoral Grants and more. She has also been invited to give dozens of keynote lectures in her areas of expertise at international conferences around the world, as well as international conferences in Israel. Prof. Tamir Tassa is senior staff member in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Open University. He previously served as lecturer and scholar in the School of Mathematical Sciences at Tel Aviv University, and in the Department of Computer Science at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Between 1993 and 1996 he served as assistant professor of computational and applied mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles. In 1993 he received his PhD in mathematics from Tel Aviv University. His main areas of interest are safe multi-participant computation, privacy-maintaining data mining and data publication, and sharing of secrets.
