Iris is a physics teacher and subject coordinator, teaching high school students at Gimnasia Katzir in Holon for 31 years. Throughout this entire period, she has prepared thousands of students for the bagrut examination in physics at a 5-credit level. Many of her students have reached key positions both in the industry and in academics.
Furthermore, Iris is a district and national inspector on the teaching of physics. By virtue of her role, she mentors new and veteran teachers, develops and delivers lectures in many continuing education programs in various subject pertaining to pedagogy in physics and its implementation in innovative ways using technological tools.
Additionally, Iris is in charge of the project “the online academic course”, which exposes high school students to higher learning and encourages them to aim high.
As a teacher, Iris believes that the single most important thing is to love the adolescents, to believe that each and every student can reach any goal that he or she aspires to, if they are willing to put the effort into it. A teacher who loves his or her students can stoke their curiosity and infect them with his or her passion for the subject. The will to learn lies in each and every person, the teacher only needs to find the way to pique their interest.

I started my work in education as a youth counselor in various informal education settings. I am a youth counselor first and foremost. In 2008, I established the Sophia Center for Applied Philosophy, out of the conviction that our duty as educators is to stimulate the children’s amazement and wonder, to stoke their natural curiosity instead of communicating information to them or filling their heads with our answers, for “Wonder is the feeling of a philosopher” (Plato) and “Every time we teach a child something, we keep him from inventing it himself” (Piaget).
Currently I am a facilitator in the organization “Education Cities”. For me, this combines the essences of wonder, will and readiness for a challenge, to dare, to dream and to charge forward beyond what is known and safe, thereby creating a connection between that part of me that inquires, wonders and charges forward, and my educational philosophy that sees each child as a perfect creature that requires as little interference as possible in his or her learning process. When I have some time left, I am socially active in several challenges, local and national. I am married and a father of three. I live in Pardes Hanna. I have a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the Open University and a master’s degree in organizational consultancy from Bar-Ilan University. Currently, as part of my doctoral studies at Tel Aviv University’s School of Education, I study the link between urbanism, community and informal educational settings.

I am an entrepreneur in the field of educational innovation and a pedagogic administrator of How2MOOC program in Education Cities.
I hold a master’s degree from Haifa University. I deliver lectures and facilitate groups, and mentor teachers and principals through change processes. In 2013, I answered the call by the Director General of Education Cities, Yaakov Hecht, to train and mentor teachers who will teach MOOCs in the classroom according to the model of the Education Cities’ team. Since then, I have been heading the team that develops the model and trains teachers in the education system to become MOOCsters.
Over time, we have renamed the model How2MOOC. The MOOC is a unique and inevitable phenomenon that can change the face of education. However, I believe that the real game changer is by learning MOOCs according to the How2MOOC model.
This way, we can all create a change in the education system, both in the teacher’s role and in the students’ role. The H2M model allows students to become active consumers of knowledge, to express their individuality and to assume responsibility for their learning process. I live in Pardes Hanna-Karkur with my partner Nimrod and our children Yuval and Halleli.

Lecturer and Learning Materials Developer in Physics
Adi Rosen holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (with honors). Has been working for 42 years as a physics teacher of the 10th to 12th grades. Simultaneously with his teaching position, he has worked in the Department of Science Teaching at Weizmann Institute of Science for 27 years. His main areas of activity at the Weizmann Institute were the development and publication of 15 textbooks. Planned new lab experiments, developed the national list of experiments for physics students and sorted the experiments according to various criteria. He also served as lecturer in courses and continued education programs for physics teachers at the institute. Furthermore, he (along with others) initiated the reform of the physics curriculum and developed about 70% of it. Additionally, Adi Rosen held several positions at the Ministry of Education: served as National Physics Inspector for 3 years, and as National Inspector for the Teaching of Physics in Pre-Academic Programs in Higher Learning Establishment for 10 years. Has been instructing (in his position titled “National Instructor”) high school physics teachers for 20 years. He also edited the pages of formulas and physical constants used in bagrut examinations. Adi has also served as member of the Subject Advisory Committee for Physics for about 20 years.
Adi Rosen has been working as a physics lecturer at Beit Berl College for 13 years and published 36 articles, most of which in Tehuda Journal (the physics teachers’ gazette published by the Weizmann Institute of Science). Served as both scientific and pedagogic editor in the publication of eight physics textbooks. In the 1980s he developed a computer program designed to allow the computer-aided analysis of experiment results. Adi Rosen gave a lecture at the international conference on science education and astrophysics in San Diego, California, titled “Frames of Reference”. In 2016 he retired and continued his work as a lecturer at Beit Berl College. He is currently developing two volumes on electromagnetics and two volumes on frames of reference.

I was born in Romania and have a master’s degree in electrical engineering.
In Israel I have taught physics to high school students at a 5-credits level for 35 years, 19 of which at HEMDA Center for Science Education in Tel Aviv. I was always available to help my students, I believed in each student’s abilities, I encouraged them to persevere, not to quit and not to give up. An integration between theoretical learning, many lab experiments of different types and informed solution of problems was the winning combination.
The reward for my efforts was that with each passing lesson I saw in my students’ eyes how their understanding and enjoyment of the learning grew and deepened.
For many years I have also been a member of the physics group in the Department of Science Teaching at the Weizmann Institute of Science.
