Prof. Yuval Bitan

Professor Yuval Bitan is a faculty member in the Department of Health Policy and Management at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and he heads the University Research Center for Simulations in Medicine – SimReC.
Yuval is an Industrial and Management Engineer specializing in Human Factors and Systems Analysis. His focus is on the interface between medical professionals and their work environment. He holds a bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. from the Department of Industrial and Management Engineering at Ben-Gurion University. Prior to joining the university faculty, Yuval was a research fellow at the University of Chicago and the University of Toronto, and he worked in product and service development in the industry.
Yuval’s research focuses on decision-making under uncertainty, the design of alert systems, and the design of work environments for doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and paramedics. He lectures in courses on decision-making and the application of human factors in medical work environments, and he conducts workshops on patient safety
