The Israel Police also includes the Border Guard, whose main tasks are related to maintaining the internal security of the country. All the units are subordinate to the national headquarters, which is headed by the Inspector General of the Israel Police. The national headquarters is divided into divisions, some of which are responsible for the operation of the force (such as the operations, investigations and intelligence and traffic divisions), and some are responsible for issues related to the building of the force (such as training, human resources, logistical support, technology and planning).
The training division is the headquarters body entrusted with the most central element in the field of force building – training and maintaining the competence of police personnel. The headquarters of the division is responsible for writing the theory of training, for assimilating the values of the organization and its heritage among the police officers, for creating the content of the training and for planning the execution of the actual training. The actual performance of the training takes place in the facilities of the National Police College, which opened in Beit Shemesh in 2015, and includes several additional branches.
The headquarters of the training division also makes extensive use of the development of digital courses and learning products, so that police officers can improve their professionalism by accessing learning content that is accessible to them on mobile, for learning from anywhere and at any time.
