Achva Academic College - The Academy's Startup
Achva Academic College is in the midst of a period of development and renewal, which is reflected in unique and challenging curricula, innovative and advanced teaching methods, and operating classrooms, with the aim of responding to the missing subjects in the southern region and adapting the curriculum to the new era, the labor market and the 21st century.
The College offers a wide range of BA and Master degrees and continues to develop additional degrees in combinations that are not offered in higher education institutions. New trends have recently been opened, innovative agriculture - Agrotech, a bachelor's degree in the personal media disorders in the southern region, and a neuropedagogy that encounters teachers in the education system with knowledge from the field of brain research.
The college is located on the seam line between the Negev and the center of the country and its unique location enables access to higher education for residents and the community in this area. The College's strongest belief is the subject of innovation, motivation, distance vision, and imprinted with the idea that the success of the College is a success of an entire area.
Achva Academic College believes that strengthening the diversity of populations living in the area means not only strengthening the entire state but creating a better future for the future generation and providing tools to succeed wherever they choose to build their lives. This, with the help of innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship in thinking, content, and curricula - leads the academic college Achva to the start-up of the academy.
The College works for unique collaborations. For example, BA graduates in the life sciences can apply for four-year medical studies at Tel Aviv University, a medical laboratory in collaboration with Shiva Tel Hashomer Medical Center, and through other programs in the field of paramedics, computer science, and more.
The College also welcomes multiculturalism and encourages fruitful dialogue between groups and sectors in Israeli society, which is reflected in the composition of faculty and students comprised of secular, religious, ultra-Orthodox and Bedouin, and other populations seeking to exercise their right and aspiration for higher education.
As part of adjusting the curriculum to the current era and the evolving technology, the college has partnered with the Campus platform as part of two online courses this year: "Skeletons in the Closet - A Journey Following the Evolution of Vertebrates" with Dr. Haim Sivan, Senior lecturer in the School of Life Sciences and one of the most prominent zoologists in Israel. And the second, "Such a Seen and New - a unique course about the Hebrew Year Circle with Hannah Abuchatzira of the School of Education. These online courses are among the first in the country to change the student learning experience and are an integral part of equal opportunity, reducing the social and economic gaps in the country. All of these make the academic college an academic start-up.
